Our large industrial client is seeking an interim Sales and Use Tax Consultant. This position will be focused on basic preparation of tax returns, tax account estimates, accruals and reconciliations. This role will provide support as needed to the Tax Manager in completion of work-papers and basic tax research. This position provides an excellent opportunity for candidates willing to learn, expand their skills, and develop their tax career.

What you’ll be doing: Sales & Use Tax
o Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales tax returns.
o Research and provide responses to ensure proper application of tax laws regarding taxable and/or exempt nature of transactions
o Monitor and manage exemption certificates
o Research and respond to state notices
o Reconcile sales & use tax accrual accounts
o Assist in sales tax controversy, preparing schedules for auditor documentation requests
• Income Tax/Other
o Maintain other indirect tax filings as necessary (such as Ohio CAT Tax)
o Assist in special projects to support income tax compliance and tax accounting
o Actively support process improvement efforts related to all tax compliance & tax accounting related activities
o Maximize use of existing software for sales & income tax compliance, as well as tax accounting
o Work with other members of the tax department to support tax planning initiatives
210-250 returns filed per month

-This person will be responsible to file corporate tax returns – but also returns for 50% of the branch network. Approx 60 locations and serve as ‘tax help desk across the branch network’

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• Must have strong technology skills, as well as organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills
• Strong attention to detail and interpersonal (written and oral) skills
• Must be self-motivated and willing to learn new skills
• Must be a team player, yet able to work independently as skill level increases
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines
